US CFR Annual Editions

The Code of Federal Regulations annual editions, from 1996 on, from GovInfo’s keyless bulk XML repository — the official point-in-time CFR, answering what was in force in a given year where the eCFR dataset answers only what is in force today. One release covers one edition-year window; the same section in several editions is several records, each carrying its edition year and its volume’s own revised-as-of date. Every record carries its source URL, fetch timestamp, HTTP status and the SHA-256 of both the raw response and the extracted record. Every release ships a manifest with every file’s SHA-256 and a Merkle root over every chunk hash, which the buyer can recompute from the downloaded files. record_id and chunk_id are stable across releases. Personal data is screened out inside the pipeline before any hash is computed.
